BRIEF: Actor Tim Daly to climb Presidential Towers for lung disease awareness

March 01--Tim Daly, star of the CBS drama "Madam Secretary," is set to climb the Presidential Towers Sunday to raise awareness about lung disease.

Daly, who turned 60 on Tuesday, is expected climb multiple towers and may climb all four Presidential Towers as part of the American Lung Association's Fight for Air Climb, an event representative said. Participants can climb 45 floors, or 585 steps, of each tower, which are located at 555 W. Madison St.

Daly's mother suffered from pneumococcal pneumonia, a type of bacterial pneumonia. Daly advocates for the "Who Pneu?" campaign to encourage adults over the age of 50 to consider their risk for pneumococcal pneumonia.

Event organizers hope to raise $500,000 at Sunday's event. It costs $25 to register through Tuesday; $45 Wednesday through Saturday and $55 on Sunday. There is a $100 fundraising minimum.
