May 12--"Runner" had a well known lead in Paula Patton and reportedly had some buzz surrounding it, but in the end that wasn't enough to get the arms dealing pilot picked up. ABC has decided to pass on "Runner," according to a network spokesperson.
The pilot filmed in Chicago in March for two weeks and centered on woman named Lauren (played by Patton) who "must follow a trail of lies that take her into the world of cartels and illegal gun trade between the U.S. and Mexico." Adam Rodriguez ("CSI: Miami") co-starred.
Fellow Chicago pilot "Chicago Med" had better luck this pilot season. NBC announced on May 1 that it had picked up the "Chicago Fire" and "Chicago P.D." spinoff. The backdoor pilot starred Oliver Platt ("Fargo") and Laurie Holden ("The Walking Dead") and is scheduled to debut mid-season.
