BRIEF: AbbVie raises dividend for second-straight quarter

Feb. 19--North Chicago-based AbbVie said Thursday it increased its regular quarterly dividend 2 cents to 51 cents per share.

The cash dividend is payable May 15 to shareholders of record by the close of business April 15.

This is the second consecutive quarter that AbbVie has raised its quarterly dividend. The dividend rose from 42 cents per share in October to 49 cents per share last month.

Since AbbVie spun off from Abbott Laboratories in 2013, the pharmaceutical company has raised its dividend 28 percent, from 40 cents per share.
