BRIEF: 9 to hospitals after CTA bus crash in Little Village

Dec. 02--Nine people were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries following a crash involving a CTA bus in the Little Village neighborhood, officials said.

Fire Department crews were called to the scene about 11:45 a.m. following the crash near 26th Street and Western Avenue, said department spokesman Chief Joe Roccasalva. Nine people, including one child, were taken to area hospitals -- either Mount Sinai Hospital or Stroger Hospital -- in fair-to-serious-condition, Roccasalva said.

A northbound No. 49/Western bus was headed north on Western when another vehicle that was going south tried to turn left in front of the bus, hitting it, said Jeff Tolman, a CTA spokesman.

None of those injured, who included the bus driver, suffered serious injuries, Tolman said.

There were no reroutes in the area, he said.
