BRIEF: 78-year-old man missing from Southwest Side

July 19--Chicago police are asking for the public's help finding a 78-year-old man with medical issues who has been missing since Thursday from the West Lawn neighborhood.

Police have issued several missing person alerts regarding Mateo Fernandez, labeling him "high-risk missing" in the latest alert, which was issued late Sunday morning.

Fernandez, who the alert said "may be in immediate need of medical attention," disappeared from the 6200 block of South Karlov Avenue on Thursday, according to the alert, which did not specify Fernandez's medical condition or give a time at which he disappeared.

Fernandez is a Hispanic man, about 5-foot-6 and weighs about 140 pounds, with gray hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, navy blue pants and brown sandals. He has a large scar on his chest.

Anyone with information about Fernandez is asked to call 911 or call Area Central detectives at 312-747-8380.
