Sept. 15--Seven people were taken to area hospitals in fair-to-critical condition after a motorist jumped a curb and struck people waiting for a CTA bus in Bronzeville, officials said.
The accident occurred at 1 p.m. in the 4700 block of South King Drive on the South Side, according to Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago police spokesman.
Five were in serious-to-critical condition. Two were taken to Stroger Hospital, two to Mount Sinai Hospital and one to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
Fire officials said two other people were in fair-to-serious condition and also were sent to area hospitals.
The 58-year-old woman who was driving the vehicle was taken to University of Chicago Hospital where her condition had stabilized, Lemmon said. Tickets are pending the police investigation.
No other details were immediately available.
