BRIEF: 7-Eleven worker stole $107,000 in lottery tickets: prosecutors

May 08--A 7-Eleven employee stole $107,000 worth of Illinois lottery tickets, prosecutors said Saturday.

Corey Stevenson, 32, of the 1300 block of West 15th Street, was an employee at the 7-Eleven on the 550 block of West Washington Boulevard and stole the lottery tickets at work, prosecutors said.

A store audit discovered the theft, prosecutors said.

The 7-Eleven management reviewed surveillance footage showing Stevenson taking tickets, and he was arrested with the tickets on his person, prosecutors said.

"I hope he won something," Cook County Judge Donald D. Panarese Jr. said.

Stevenson was charged with theft over $100,000 and ordered held in lieu of $50,000 bond.
