BRIEF: 60-year-old woman killed on South Side

Feb. 03--A 60-year-old woman found unresponsive inside a South Side building Monday morning was a homicide victim, officials said.

The woman, 60, was found by a family member about 8:45 a.m. inside a building in the 400 block of E. 48th Place in the Bronzeville neighborhood, according to Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Thomas Sweeney. The woman, who had trauma to her body, was pronounced dead on the scene at 9:16 a.m., officials said.

Police said that they have a person of interest in custody.

The woman was identified as Linda Sanders, of the block in which she died, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. After an autopsy, the medical examiner said that the woman's cause of death was multiple blunt and sharp force injuries and that it was a homicide. The medical examiner said Sanders was 50 years old.

Area Central detectives are investigating, said Sweeney.

No other information was immediately available.
