BRIEF: 6 injured after CTA bus rear-ended on West Side

Feb. 24--Six people were taken to area hospitals with injuries after an SUV ran into the back of a CTA bus on the West Side about 1 p.m. on Tuesday, according to authorities.

The northbound 52 Kedzie / California bus was stopped on Kedzie Avenue at the intersection with Jackson Boulevard when a vehicle crashed into it from behind, said Catherine Hosinski, a CTA spokeswoman.

The bus operator and five passengers were taken to area hospitals, said police and fire officials.

They suffered "what appear to be minor, non-life threatening injuries," according to Hosinski.

Fire officials said one person was in serious-to-critical condtion and the others were taken in fair-to-serious condition to area hospitals.
