Dec. 31--Six people were hurt, two of them critically, when a car rolled over early Thursday morning in west suburban Bartlett, officials said.
The single-vehicle accident happened about 12:40 a.m. on Lake Street near the intersection of Naperville Road, according to a release from the Streamwood Fire Department.
Two people, whose genders and ages were not immediately available, were ejected from the car. One of them ended up trapped under the vehicle, and firefighters had to use rescue air bags to lift the car and free the victim, according to the release.
Both victims suffered life-threatening injuries and were taken to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, and one of the two was later transferred to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge by a helicopter, the release said.
Four other people suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and they were taken to Presence Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin, according to the release.
Fire departments from Streamwood, Bartlett, Elgin and Barrington helped respond to the accident.
Bartlett police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
No other information about the accident was available.
