BRIEF: 5 hospitalized after multiple-car crash in Englewood

April 19--Five people were hospitalized after a three-vehicle crash early Sunday in Englewood.

The crash happened about 4:50 a.m. near West 71st Street and South Wentworth Avenue, said Chicago Police Department spokeswoman Officer Janel Sedevic, citing preliminary information.

Details surrounding the crash were not immediately available, but three cars were involved. Three people who were in a Ford Mustang were seriously injured. One passenger was airlifted to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Another passenger in the Mustang was ejected and was also taken to Christ Medical Center, police said. Both were listed in critical condition early Sunday.

The driver of the Mustang was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in Chicago where his condition was stabilized. Two occupants of a Chevy involved in the crash were taken in fair condition to Christ Medical Center, and three people riding in a Nissan also involved in the crash refused medical attention on the scene, police said.
