BRIEF: 5 dead in family murder-suicide in Tucson, police say

May 13--A 25-year-old Tucson man killed four of his relatives before turning the gun on himself Tuesday night in a murder-suicide, police said.

Christopher Carillo shot his parents, older brother and niece before taking his own life about 6 p.m. in a home on West Calle Medina in Tucson, police spokesman Sgt. Pete Dugan said.

An acquaintance of the victims called police after he entered the home and found a man dead near the front door, according to a police statement. Officers arrived a short time later and discovered the other victims, all of whom died of gunshot wounds.

Police identified the victims as Raul Carrillo, 58, Karen Saari, 53, Erik Carrillo, 32, and Isela Rodriguez, 17.

A motive was not immediately clear, according to Dugan, who described the home as a family residence. Dugan was not certain which of the victims lived there.

Christopher Carillo used a handgun to carry out the attacks, Dugan said. It was unclear whether the gun belonged to the 25-year-old or whether it was legally owned.
