Jan. 03--A shallow magnitude 4.9 earthquake was reported Saturday morning 4 miles from the town of Challis, Idaho, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The Custer County Sheriff's Office has not received any reports of injuries or damaged structures, said Deputy Launna Gunderson.
A few large rocks rolled down on to State Highway 75 but were removed, she said.
"We are a little shook up," she said.
The temblor occurred at 9:44 a.m. PST. The epicenter was about 119 miles from Boise, Idaho.
The depth was recorded at 5.0 miles. There was a magnitude 2.9 earthquake near Challis, Idaho, on Monday, and a magnitude 2.5 earthquake near Challis on Sunday.
The Challis area was heavily damaged in 1983 when a magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck Borah Peak, Idaho. There were two deaths in Challis and an estimated $12.5 million in damage in the area, according to the USGS. It was the largest quake ever recorded in Idaho.
