BRIEF: 3 teens hurt in car crash in Gresham

March 20--A 17-year-old boy was critically hurt and two other teenagers were injured in a single-car crash early Sunday in the Gresham neighborhood on the South Side, police said.

About 2:30 a.m., a 17-year-old male teen was driving south in a 2001 Lincoln Town Car at a high rate of speed when he struck a street light pole in the 8800 block of South Ashland Avenue, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago police spokeswoman.

The driver and the car's two passengers were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center. The conditions of the driver and of an 18-year-old man in the front seat had stabilized, Sedevic said.

A 17-year-old boy who sat in the back seat was listed in critical condition, Sedevic said.
