BRIEF: 3 seriously hurt in South Chicago wreck

Jan. 17--Three people in their 20s were seriously hurt when the car they were in crashed into a tree on the South Side early Sunday, authorities said.

They were inside a car that hit a tree about 4 a.m. in the 7900 block of South Yates Boulevard in the city's South Chicago neighborhood, according to police.

Two 27-year-olds were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and a 28-year-old was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to the Fire Department, which said all were in serious to critical condition.
