BRIEF: 3 people injured in West Side blaze

Dec. 12--Three people, including a toddler, were hurt in a fire that erupted in a building on the West Side early Friday morning, authorities said.

The blaze started around 1:30 a.m. on the second floor of a 2-1/2 story building in the 100 block of North Latrobe Avenue in the South Austin neighborhood, said Chicago Fire Department spokesman Juan Hernandez.

A 22-year-old woman, a 1-year-old girl and a 28-year-old man received minor injuries as a result of the fire and were transported to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, where their conditions stabilized, Hernandez said. He could not elaborate on what the injuries were from.

Hernandez added that two people were displaced by the fire.

The flames were extinguished around 2:30 a.m., and the cause of the cause remained under investigation, Hernandez said.
