April 22--Three inmates suffered stab wounds when a fight broke out at a medium-security wing of Cook County Jail Wednesday morning, authorities said.
None of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening, according to Chicago Fire Cmdr. Frank Velez, a spokesman for the department.
The fight broke out around 8:30 a.m. in Division XI of the jail at 3015 S. California Ave., according to sheriff's spokeswoman Sophia Ansari.
Velex said the three inmates suffered puncture wounds. Two were taken to Stroger Hospital and the third to Mount Sinai Hospital, all of them stable, Velez said. "Nothing life-threatening," he said.
Ansari said the fight involved "multiple" members of street gangs. She had no other details.
