BRIEF: 3 injured in North Side stabbing, golf club incident

Dec. 27--A man was in serious condition and two other men were injured during a stabbing incident on the North Side early Saturday, police said.

Around 2:40 a.m., an unknown offender stabbed a 30-year-old man during an altercation over a female in the 5700 block of North California Avenue in the Peterson Park neighborhood, said police Officer Amina Greer.

The 30-year-old was stabbed multiple times in the back and hand and was taken to Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center. He was later transferred to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was listed in serious condition, police said.

A 27-year-old man and a 24-year-old man were also hurt during the incident. The 27-year-old was struck in the head and arm with an unknown object and was taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital, where his condition stabilized. He was later taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, said police spokeswoman Janel Sedevic.

The 24-year-old man was struck with a golf club in the arm and was being treated at Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center, Sedevic said. He was expected to be treated and released.

No one is in custody, and no other information was available about the incident.
