BRIEF: 3 injured in head-on crash in West Chicago

Dec. 06--Three people were injured after a head-on car crash Friday night in west suburban West Chicago.

The three-car accident happened shortly after 11 p.m. on Route 59 near Gary's Mill Road, according to a West Chicago police dispatch representative.

Some of the cars caught on fire as result of the incident. All three people, whose ages and genders were not immediately available, were taken to Central DuPage Hospital. Their conditions were not known.

As of 3:40 a.m., northbound and southbound lanes on Route 59 were closed between Dayton Street and Joliet Street, according to police dispatch.

Police may be on the scene until about 8 a.m., investigating the crash.
