BRIEF: 3 injured after car tied to police chase crashes on North Side

July 29--Three people were injured after a car that had been chased by police crashed in Goose Island early Wednesday, police said.

Police had spotted the car speeding in the 3500 block of South Halsted Street in the Bridgeport neighborhood and began pursuing it, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a spokeswoman for the Chicago Police Department.

The chase was called off after an unspecified amount of time, Pacheco said. About 1:35 a.m., police discovered that that car was involved in a crash near the 800 block of North Halsted in the Goose Island neighborhood.

Three people were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Pacheco had no information on their ages or conditions.

The driver of the vehicle, a 21-year-old man, was taken into custody, and charges were pending.
