BRIEF: 3 hurt when car plows into film shoot on PCH in Malibu, officials say

April 02--Three people were hurt when a car plowed into a film shoot on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 8:02 p.m. Tuesday when the vehicle struck a fire hydrant and three pedestrians who were part of a crew filming in the 20300 block of Pacific Coast Highway, said Sgt. Joe Covarrubias of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Initially, investigators believed the film crew didn't have permits, but they later spoke to the city of Malibu and learned the crew did have the proper permits, sheriff's Lt. Jennifer Seetoo said.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department also confirmed the crew had permits.

Two victims were taken to area hospitals and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

KNBC-TV reported that the car was a part of the film set.

Authorities closed the highway in both directions Tuesday as they investigated the crash.
