BRIEF: 3 arrested after carjacking, police chase in Lincoln Park

May 14--Chicago police arrested three people after they stole a car in Lincoln Park and crashed the vehicle following a chase.

The three people -- a 21-year-old man and two 17-year-old boys -- approached a 32-year-old man as he was getting into his 2002 Chevrolet Malibu in the 1800 block of North Clybourn Avenue in Lincoln Park about 11:10 p.m., police said.

The three implied they had a weapon, stole the car and fled. Officers responding to calls of a carjacking in the area spotted the vehicle and gave chase, said Officer Amina Greer, a Chicago Police Department spokeswoman.

The officers chased the three to the 1900 block of West Fullerton Avenue, where the driver of the Malibu struck a restaurant sign, Greer said.

Criminal charges against the three were pending as of early Thursday.
