BRIEF: 3 wounded in shootings on South, Southwest sides

Dec. 10--Three people, including a 16-year-old boy, have been wounded in separate shootings in Chicago since mid-afternoon Wednesday, according to police.

Most recently, at 7:40 p.m., a 19-year-old man was shot in Englewood, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a police spokesman.

He was in the 6600 block of South Justine Street when he was shot in the buttocks. The attack may have been a drive-by, police said.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, and his condition was stabilized.

At about 6:30 p.m., a 16-year-old boy was shot in the 5500 block of South Emerald Avenue in Englewood, said Officer Veejay Zala, a police spokesman.

The boy was shot in the left foot and taken to St. Bernard Hospital and Healthcare Center, where his condition was stabilized.

The boy told police that he was behind a vacant house when someone wearing a black hoodie came out of a gangway and fired a gun at him, hitting him, Zala said. The attacker fled on foot.

At 3:15 p.m., a 22-year-old man was shot in the Marquette Park neighborhood, police said.

He was in the 2400 block of West 69th Street when he was shot. He was taken to Advocate Christ, and his condition was stabilized, police said.
