Jan. 02--A south suburban man was killed and six people were wounded in shootings since Friday afternoon, including a 19-year-old woman who was shot while traveling on Lake Shore Drive.
About 9:40 p.m. Friday, Roderick Snowden was killed in the Englewood neighborhood, said Chicago police spokeswoman Officer Amina Greer.
Snowden, 32, was in a parked car in the 6100 block of South Sangamon Street when a sedan pulled up and someone inside fired shots. He was hit multiple times and went to to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead.
Snowden lived in the 1200 block of Wadsworth Avenue in Worth, according to the medical examiner's office.
At 6:30 a.m. Saturday, a female whose age was not immediately available was shot in South Austin, said Chicago police spokeswoman Officer Janel Sedevic.
She was in the 300 block of South Cicero Avenue when she was shot in the back. She was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and her condition was stabilized. No information was immediately available about the circumstances of the shooting; police said she was being uncooperative with investigators.
At 4:50 a.m. Saturday, two people were wounded in a possible drive-by in South Austin, Greer said, citing preliminary information. They were shot in the 500 block of South Lavergne Avenue.
A 28-year-old man was shot in the back and armpit and took himself to Loretto Hospital. His condition was stabilized.
A 34-year-old man was shot in the back and abdomen and taken to Stroger Hospital. His condition also was stabilized.
At 4:15 a.m., a 19-year-old man was shot in East Garfield Park, Greer said.
He was in the 3500 block of West Lake Street when he heard gunfire and was shot in the leg. He went to Mount Sinai Hospital and his condition was stabilized.
At 3:05 p.m., a 19-year-old woman was shot while she was a passenger of a vehicle traveling north on Lake Shore Drive in Uptown.
According to preliminary reports, the woman was wounded just north of Lawrence Avenue by a gunman who was inside a red four-door Kia, said Officer Kevin Quaid, a Chicago police spokesman.
The woman, who suffered a gunshot wound to the right thigh, was driven to Presence St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where her condition was stabilized, Quaid said.
About 3:15 p.m., a 42-year-old man was shot in the abdomen and arm in the city's Gage Park neighborhood.
It happened in the 2800 block of West 59th Street, Quaid said.
Someone shot the victim in the upper abdomen and forearm, and he was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, Quaid said.
Chicago Fire Department spokesman Juan Hernandez said the victim was in critical condition when paramedics responded.
Police were investigating.
