Dec. 31--Eight people, including two 15-year-old boys, have been wounded since Wednesday morning in shootings on the South, West and Northwest Sides, Chicago police said.
Most recently, a 35-year-old man was wounded in a shooting around 4:27 a.m. Thursday in the Little Village neighborhood on the West Side, said Chicago Police Department spokesman Officer Ron Gaines.
The man was outside in the 2600 block of South Homan Avenue when an unknown attacker approached him and fired shots, striking him in the stomach, Gaines said.
The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition stabilized.
About 3:27 a.m., a 22-year-old man drove himself to Loretto Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds to his body, Gaines said.
The man was driving westbound in the 4400 block of West Monroe Street in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side when someone walked up in front of his vehicle and fired shots, Gaines said.
The man was listed in serious condition at the hospital. He was transferred to Stroger Hospital, Gaines said.
Another shooting happened at 8:09 p.m. on the 3100 block of West Devon Avenue in the city's West Rogers Park neighborhood, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a police spokesman.
A 15-year-old boy was sitting in a parked vehicle when an unknown attacker came up and shot the boy in the head, said Sweeney. Another person in the vehicle drove the teen to Swedish Covenant Hospital. He was later transferred to Stroger Hospital where his condition stabilized, said Sweeney.
A short time earlier, at 7:45 p.m. another 15-year-old boy along with a 28-year-old man were injured in a shooting on the 3500 block of West Grenshaw Street in the Homan Square neighborhood, Sweeney said.
The teen was shot in the lower left side and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in fair condition and the man was shot in the left thigh and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition, police said.
The boy and the man were standing on a sidewalk when a white SUV pulled up and someone inside it fired shots, said Chicago Police Department spokesman Officer Hector Alfaro.
Another shooting happened about 1:15 p.m. in the 200 block of North Kilbourn Avenue in the city's West Garfield Park neighborhood, said Sweeney.
Earlier information indicated the victim was a 17-year-old boy, but that information was incorrect. The victim is a 37-year-old man who was shot multiple times while he was inside of a parked car. The man told police he was shot by a gunman in a black pick-up truck, said Officer Nicole Trainor, a Chicago police spokeswoman.
The man suffered two wounds to each shoulder, and was shot in the jaw. He was taken to Stroger Hospital where his condition was stabilized, Trainor said, adding the man may have suffered additional wounds.
Earlier Wednesday, a 34-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman were shot on the South Side in the city's Gresham neighborhood.
Shortly after 9 a.m., the man and the woman were inside a vehicle in the 8400 block of South Loomis Boulevard when a light-colored minivan pulled up to them and a male attacker inside fired shots at them, Alfaro said.
The man was grazed in the right forearm, but he refused medical attention. The woman was shot in the right arm and hand. She was treated and released from Saint Bernard Hospital and Healthcare Center, Alfaro said.
Police previously said the shooting occurred in the 8700 block of South Racine Avenue.
No one was in custody as a result of the shootings.
