April 26--Collaboraction announced its 2016-17 season, the company's 21st, on Tuesday.
"The Mars Assignment" (Oct. 20-Nov. 20) will premiere in the fall. Written and directed by Ronan Marra and created in collaboration with Elsa Hiltner, the interview play examines the many faces of depression.
Dani Bryant's "Gender Breakdown" (Feb. 16-March 19), another world premiere, follows. Erica Vannon will direct the devised play inspired by Erin Pike and Courtney Meaker's "that'swhatshesaid," a performance piece drawn from women's roles in the most produced plays of the 2014-15 theater season, which sparked controversy over copyright law.
The season also includes the previously announced touring Peacebook festival (Aug. 12-27), featuring multidisciplinary performances curated by artistic director Anthony Moseley. The festival will take place in three Chicago Park District locations: Englewood's Hamilton Park, Austin's LaFollette Park and Clarendon Park in Uptown.
Collaboraction is in residence at the Flat Iron Arts Building, 1579 N. Milwaukee Ave.
