BRIEF: 2 West Side men charged in Lawndale shooting

Feb. 04--Two men have been charged in a Tuesday shooting that wounded a 54-year-old man in the city's Lawndale neighborhood.

The man was shot about 10:20 a.m. on the 4300 block of West Cermak Road. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with three wounds to his ankle and leg, police said.

John Potts, 27, of the 2200 block of South Keller Avenue, and Tremaine Jeter, 22, of the 2200 block of South Kolin Avenue, were charged with one felony count each of aggravated battery with a firearm.

Potts and Jeter both appeared Wednesday afternoon in court where both were ordered held in lieu of a $500,000 bail, according to a spokesman for the Cook County State's Attorney's office.

Their next court date was scheduled for Feb. 10.
