Man, 3 teens hurt in shootings

Dec. 22--A man and three teenagers were hurt in separate shootings on the Northwest and Far South sides Monday, Chicago police said.

Most recently, a 42-year-old man was wounded in a shooting around 10:45 p.m. in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a police spokesman.

The man was outside in the 0-100 block of East 100th Place when a gunman fired shots at him, Alfaro said.

He was struck in the arm and chest. The man's wife drove him to Roseland Community Hospital, and he was being transferred to Stroger Hospital, family members said.

He was listed in serious condition, police said.

At the shooting site, police officers cordoned off the sidewalk in front of three homes with red crime tape.

Police found several shell casings and a cellphone on the sidewalk. A trail of blood led to the front steps of one of the homes.

No one was in custody.

Around 9:45 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was wounded in a shooting in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side, Alfaro said.

The teen was walking in the 0-100 block of West 125th Street when a male attacker fired shots at him from an alley, Alfaro said.

He was shot in the lower left leg and was taken to Roseland Community Hospital, where his condition stabilized, Alfaro said.

A 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man were wounded in a shooting at 3 p.m. in the 5200 block of West Montana Street in the Cragin neighborhood, police said.

The 17-year-old was wounded in the shoulder, and the 18-year-old was shot in the back, according to police.

The two were taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital, where their conditions had stabilized, police said.
