Nov. 29--At least two people were shot on Interstate 57 early Saturday morning, authorities said.
Responders found the two people shot in the northbound lanes of I-57 near 127th Street in south suburban Calumet Park, according to Illinois State Police.
One person was shot in the leg, and another person was injured, state police said, citing preliminary information. The ages, genders and conditions of the two were not immediately available.
The shooting stemmed from an incident in suburban Markham, state police said. Markham police could not be reached early Saturday for comment.
The two people were transported by the Posen Fire Department to area hospitals, state police said. Posen officials refused to give details about where the two were taken.
Traffic to the northbound lanes was shut down following the shooting but had reopened as of 7:45 a.m.
