Dec. 07--At least six people have been wounded in separate shootings since Sunday afternoon, Chicago police said.
Most recently, at least two people were wounded in a shooting around 6:45 a.m. in the Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side, police said. Police said a man, who is now in custody, broke into his ex-girlfriends house and shot the woman and her brother after her brother confronted im.
The shooting took place in the 1400 block of East 67th Place. The woman, 26, was shot in the right arm and was taken to University of Chicago Hospitals, where her condition stabilized, police said. The woman's older brother, 43, was shot in the back and face and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
The 24-year-old man is in custody, police said.
Earlier, a security guard shot a 30-year-old man while trying to break up a domestic-related fight around 10 p.m. in the Near West Side neighborhood, police said.
Police said the 30-year-old man was wielding a brick during an argument with a woman outside near the gate of Oakley Square Apartments complex in the 2300 block of West Jackson Boulevard, when a nearby security guard tried to intervene, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a police spokesman.
The man then tried to strike the security guard with the brick, Alfaro said.
The security guard fired his weapon in return, striking the man in the chest, police said.
The man managed to get himself to Stroger Hospital, where he is listed in serious condition, police said.
Around 10:25 p.m., a 16-year-old boy was shot during an armed robbery in the West Humboldt Park neighborhood, Alfaro said.
The boy was walking on the sidewalk in the 4100 block of West Crystal Street when a male attacker stepped out of a sedan with a handgun and announced a robbery, Alfaro said.
The attacker went through the boy's pockets and shot him, stealing an unknown amount of cash.
The boy was struck in the right leg, and he was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition stabilized.
About 8:15 p.m. an 18-year-old man was wounded in the 2100 block of West 18th Street in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a police spokesman.
The man was walking on the sidewalk when someone in a passing van fired shots at him, striking him in the leg. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where his condition had stabilized, police said.
Earlier, at 1:13 p.m. another 18-year-old man was shot in the 700 block of North Ridgeway Avenue in the East Garfield Park neighborhood, said Officer Nicole Trainor, a police spokeswoman.
The man was shot in the foot and taken in good condition to an area hospital, Trainor said.
