BRIEF: 2 seriously hurt in SUV crash on Southwest Side

Nov. 17--A woman and a man were seriously hurt after an SUV crashed into a tree late Monday in Chicago's West Elsdon neighborhood on the Southwest Side, authorities said.

The crash happened around 11:20 p.m. in the 5300 block of South Pulaski Road, said Chicago Fire Department Cmdr. Walter Schroeder.

A 19-year-old woman was driving an SUV fast on Pulaski when she lost control and crashed into a tree. The SUV rolled onto its side, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a police spokesman.

At least one person was pinned inside the vehicle, authorities said.

The woman and a 20-year-old male passenger were injured and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Alfaro said.

Both were listed in critical-but-stable condition.
