BRIEF: 2 pedestrians seriously hurt, 2 arrested after crash on Northwest Side

April 13--Two pedestrians were seriously injured Monday morning when they were struck by a vehicle in the Belmont Heights neighborhood, possibly during an argument, officials said.

The accident happened about 4:20 a.m. in the 3200 block of North Ozark Avenue, according to Police News Affairs Officer Stacey Cooper.

The victims were on the sidewalk when they were hit, Cooper said, citing preliminary information.

One person was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood in critical condition, and the other person was taken in serious condition Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Cooper said.

Police took into custody two people who were in the vehicle. Both were taken to Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago for treatment. Their conditions were not immediately known, Cooper said.

"All involved may have been involved in an altercation prior to the accident," Cooper said.

No other information was available about the incident.
