2 dead, including 14-year-old girl, and 7 wounded in shootings across Chicago

Aug. 13--Two people, including a 14-year-old girl, were killed and seven other people were wounded in shootings across Chicago since Wednesday, according to police.

Tracy Davis, 14, was found with a gunshot wound to the head around 2:20 p.m. Wednesday in the 700 block of North Homan Avenue in East Garfield Park, She was dead on the scene, officials said.

The Cook County medical examiner's office said she lived in the 4400 block of West Adams Street, about 2 1/2 miles away on the other side of Garfield Park.

Police released no other details and said they were conducting a death investigation.

The other fatal shooting occurred early Thursday when a man in his 20s was hit in the Princeton Park neighborhood on the South Side, said Officer Amina Greer, a Chicago police spokeswoman.

The man was found unresponsive in a car in the 200 block of West 93rd Place about 3:10 a.m. Thursday. He had been shot several times in the face and neck, according to preliminary information from police.

About 12 shell casings were scattered on the grass and sidewalk next to the driver's side of the car, which was parked on 93rd Place across from the playground of Turner-Drew Language Academy. Police officers cordoned off the car and the area around it with red and yellow tape.

The car's windshield wipers had been turned on, and swiped back and forth as police shined flashlights into the car.

An ambulance with flashing lights parked along Princeton near the crime scene and drove away after several minutes without a patient.
