Aug. 20--Police are searching for two men they say fled after throwing a caustic chemical on a Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services worker, burning her arms.
The attack occurred about 4:25 p.m. Wednesday in the parking lot of the county agency at 10355 Slusher Drive in Santa Fe Springs, according to Lt. Bryan Ellis of the Whittier Police Department.
The victim, a woman who works at the department, ran into a restroom in the building to wash herself, Ellis said.
She suffered first- and second-degree burns on both arms and one hand and is hospitalized in stable condition, said Brent Hayward, division chief of the Santa Fe Springs Department of Fire-Rescue.
The two men left in a vehicle, but police do not have a description of it or know in which direction the attackers fled.
Detectives are investigating the incident and examining video from nearby security cameras, Ellis said. Anyone with information on the attack is asked to call the Whittier Police Department at (562) 567-9200.
