BRIEF: 2 men critically wounded in stabbing on Northwest Side

Oct. 11--Two 32-year-old men who were fighting each other were critically wounded early Saturday morning after a person who tried to stop the fight instead stabbed them both, police said.

The two men began fighting about 2 a.m. in the 5400 block of West Wrightwood Avenue in the city's Cragin neighborhood. Another person attempted to intervene, but ended up stabbing both men, said Officer Nicole Trainor, a Chicago police spokeswoman.

The men suffered wounds to the face and throat, and were taken in critical condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

News Affairs did not immediately have information on whether anyone was being questioned in the stabbings.

Police were investigating.
