BRIEF: 2 killed in Joliet shooting

Dec. 03--A 17-year-old boy and a 30-year-old man were fatally shot Tuesday evening in Joliet, authorities said.

The shooting happened in the 400 block of Strong Avenue in Joliet, authorities said.

Keon Kelly, 30, of Lockport, was taken to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead about 6 p.m., according to the Will County coroner's office.

Tariq Purnell, 17, of Joliet, was pronounced dead on the scene about 8 p.m., according to the coroner's office.

Officials said both Kelly and Purnell appeared to have been shot and said their deaths were being investigated as homicides. Autopsies were scheduled for Wednesday.

Details surrounding the shooting were not immediately available.
