BRIEF: 2 in critical condition after being hit by truck on South Side

Aug. 19--A girl and a 23-year-old woman are in critical condition after they were hit by a truck Tuesday afternoon in the city's Park Manor neighborhood.

Details were scarce, but the two were struck shortly before 2:30 p.m. in the 6900 block of South Prairie Avenue, according to the Chicago Fire Media information.

The child was taken to Comer Children's Hospital, and the woman was taken to Stroger Hospital. Both are reportedly in critical condition, officials said. The age of the girl was not immediately available.

Police said the truck was eastbound on 69th Street when the accident occurred. The driver of the truck stayed at the scene and police were investigating.
