BRIEF: 2 found dead in South Side home died in murder-suicide

Dec. 18--A man and a woman who were found dead in a Woodlawn home Wednesday evening died during an apparent murder-suicide, officials said Thursday.

The two were found dead at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday in a home in the 7100 block of South Ingleside Avenue, according to Chicago police spokesman Hector Alfaro. The two died as a result of a domestic-related incident, police said.

According to the Cook County medical examiner's office, the man was identified as Ezra Walton, 28, and the woman was identified as Yvonne Augustus, 47.

Officials said the two lived at the same home on the 7100 block of South Ingleside Avenue.

According to autopsies conducted Thursday, Augustus died of multiple blunt force injuries during an assault and her death was ruled a homicide. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:59 p.m., according to the office.

Walton died of asphyxiation due to hanging and his death was ruled a suicide, according to the office. He was also pronounced dead at the scene also at 7:59 p.m.
