BRIEF: 2 displaced after fire severely damages Algonquin home

March 25--Two people were displaced after a fire broke out in a home early Wednesday morning in northwest suburban Algonquin.

The blaze started in a bathroom on the second floor of a two-story single family home in the 1400 block of Braewood Drive around 2:35 a.m., according to a statement from the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District.

The house had working smoke alarms, and two residents were able to get out safely, said Algoonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Battalion Chief John Greene.

The fire was struck out at 2:52 a.m., and no injuries were reported, according to the statement.

But the home was declared uninhabitable by the Algonquin Building Department, the statement said.

Fire departments from nearby areas, including Carpentersville, Crystal Lake, Fox River Grove, Barrington and Huntley, helped battle the blaze.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
