BRIEF: 2 cops hurt in hit-and-run crash on West Side

Sept. 12--Two Chicago police officers were hurt during a hit-and-run car crash Friday evening in the East Garfield Park on the West Side, police said.

Around 9:50 p.m., the officers were traveling southbound in their vehicle in the 3400 block of West Lake Street when a vehicle going eastbound went through a red light and struck them, said Chicago Police Department spokesman Officer Hector Alfaro.

Two people got out of the offending vehicle and started running away, but police officers shortly chased them down and took them into custody, Alfaro said.

Two police officers were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the accident, Alfaro said.

No other information about the incident was available.
