BRIEF: 2 Chicago premieres in a Red Orchid Theatre's 2016-17 season

June 02--A Red Orchid Theatre has announced its 2016-17 season, including two Chicago premieres.

Opening the season is Harold Pinter's first play, "The Room," to be directed by Dado. Featuring Kirsten Fitzgerald and Mierka Girten, Pinter's off-kilter comedy about the menacing characters that enter one woman's home will run Sept. 29-Nov. 13.

Jennifer Haley's "The Nether" follows, running Jan. 26-March 12. Karen Kessler will direct Guy Van Swearingen and Doug Vickers in the sci-fi drama about a virtual world filled with disturbing possibilities.

Last comes "3C" by David Adjmi, with a cast including Jennifer Engstrom and Larry Grimm. Shade Murray will direct the '70s-sitcom-inspired black comedy, playing April 20-June 4.

All performances take place at A Red Orchid Theatre, 1531 N. Wells St.
