BRIEF: 2 Chicago cops injured in South Side car crash

April 06--Two police officers were hurt in a car crash early Monday morning in the Woodlawn neighborhood on the South Side.

The 3rd District officers were traveling in a squad car in the 6500 block of South Ellis Avenue when they struck a pole around 2:25 a.m. during a traffic pursuit, police said.

The pursuit started in the 6600 block of South University Avenue and ended with a crash about a minute later, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer.

The officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Stroger Hospital, Greer said. Both are expected to be treated and released.

As of early Monday, no one was in custody in connection with the incident.
