Dec. 15--A suspected drunk driver plowed a red truck into two parked vans and a group of pedestrians gathered to look at a holiday light display in Alhambra on Sunday night, injuring 13 people, police said.
Lt. Garrett Kennedy of the Alhambra Police Department said 11 people were taken to a hospital and four were in critical condition.
The collision happened about 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of Fremont Avenue and Poplar Boulevard when the driver apparently crossed the double yellow lines.
The driver, described by police as a man in his 20s, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Kennedy said the traffic investigation team was at the scene of the collision, adding that streets in the area would remain closed for several more hours.
Neighbors told ABC7 that the intersection where the collision happened draws many vehicles and pedestrians to view elaborate holiday displays.
