BRIEF: 10-year-old dead, 2 injured in SW Side crash

Dec. 05--A 10-year-old boy was killed and two other people were injured in a crash on the Southwest Side early Saturday, police said.

About 4:10 a.m., a 32-year-old man was driving with a 13-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy in the 3600 block of West Marquette Road when the man hit a viaduct support beam, said Chicago police spokeswoman Officer Ana Pacheco.

All three people were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center. The man was in serious condition, and the girl's condition was stabilized. The boy was pronounced dead. He was identified as Carlos Rodriguez of the 5200 block of South Francisco Avenue, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Police were investigating the crash.
