BRIEF: 1 questioned in Southwest Side stabbing death

July 28--A man is being questioned in connection with the stabbing death of a 21-year-old man in the Ashburn neighborhood Monday evening, Chicago police said Tuesday.

The man was found stabbed in the chest about 7:20 p.m. in the 7700 block of South Kedzie Avenue on the Southwest Side, said Officer Nicole Trainor, a police spokeswoman. A man was being questioned as a person of interest in the stabbing, Officer Janel Sedevic, a police spokeswoman, said Tuesday afternoon.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 7:54 p.m., officials said.

He was identified by the Cook County medical examiner's office as Corey Wallace, of the same block where the incident occurred.

Police are treating it as a homicide, according to Officer Thomas Sweeney, a police spokesman.
