BRIEF: 1-month-old baby injured when a police chase ends in South L.A. crash

Feb. 24--Seven people, including some children, were injured early Tuesday when the driver of a car being chased by police crashed in South Los Angeles, fire officials said.

The victims suffered minor to serious injuries and were taken to an area hospital, said Erik Scott, spokesman of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The youngest victim, authorities said, is a 1-month-old baby.

LAPD Officer Liliana Preciado said the crash occurred about 10:05 a.m. in the Broadway-Manchester neighborhood.

Officers said they spotted a reckless driver at 83rd Street and Vermont Avenue and pursued the driver for roughly three miles. The chase ended when the driver crashed into another vehicle near Imperial Highway and Main Street, she said.
