May 20--One man was pronounced dead in a shooting on the South Side while another man survived a separate shooting after an assailant rode up on a scooter and shot him in the Gage Park neighborhood Wednesday morning, police said.
At about 11:44 a.m. a man, who was between the ages of 25 and 35, was fatally shot in the 6300 block of South Bell Avenue in the West Englewood neighborhood, said Chicago Police spokeswoman Stacey Cooper.
The man suffered a gunshot wound to his chest and was pronounced dead at the scene, said Cooper. Area South detectives were invstigaging.
Earlier, a 32-year-old victim suffered several gunshot wounds in an attack in the 5800 block of South Kedzie Avenue about 10:40 a.m., said Cooper. The man was in serious condition at Mount Sinai Hospital.
The man was on the block when someone on a scooter came up and got into a dispute with him, then pulled out a handgun and started firing, Cooper said.
The attacker fled on foot, Cooper said.
No one was in custody in either shooting.
