BRIEF: 1 killed, 1 seriously injured in Goose Island crash

March 07--One man was killed and another was seriously injured in a single-car crash on Goose Island early Saturday morning, police said.

The driver of a Cadillac sedan lost control while traveling eastbound and struck a pole in the 1100 block of West Division street shortly after 6 a.m. Saturday.

The driver, a male whose age was not immediately known, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police Department spokesman.

There was one passenger in the car at the time of the crash. The passenger, a 28-year-old man was also taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and was listed in serious condition, Estrada said.

It was not immediately clear what caused the driver to lose control of the car.
