April 09--One person is dead and another has been hospitalized after a crash between a car and a semi-trailer Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 55 in Plainfield, according to Illinois State Police.
The crash occurred at 4:26 p.m. Wednesday on northbound I-55 near Lockport Road, a state police sergeant said.
The driver of the car was pronounced dead and the semi driver was rushed to a local hospital, state police said.
As of 6:45 p.m., all northbound lanes are closed between U.S. Route 30 and IL Route 126 as state police continue to investigate. Police are rerouting northbound I-55 traffic onto U.S. Route 30.
No other information was immediately available.
