BRIEF: 1 dead in 5-vehicle crash in Will County

May 04--A 65-year-old man was killed and two other people were injured in a five-vehicle crash in Joliet on Sunday morning, police said.

The accident happened at 11:18 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 80 at mile post 132 in Will County, said Illinois State Police Sgt. Chris Wilkes.

The crash involved four passenger vehicles and a recreational vehicle, Wilkes said.

The deceased man, who was from the Joliet area, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two people were taken to Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet, where their conditions had stabilized and they were later released, Wilkes said.

According to preliminary information, the 65-year-old man was driving a Chevy pickup truck west bound when he veered into east bound traffic causing the pile up.

The accident investigation caused a tie ups from 11:18 a.m. until about 3 p.m., Wilkes said.
